On Wednesday, November 13, 1991, after rededicating his life to God at Rutledge Chapel on the University of South Carolina campus, Bishop Wayne V. Snider received a divine visitation from the Lord Jesus Christ concerning his call to ministry in his dorm room. After a period of spiritual wrestling, he surrendered to that call on Sunday, August 2, 1992, at the Abundant Life Tabernacle AME Zion Church under the leadership of Pastor (now Bishop) Brian D. Moore. Upon returning to the University, he changed his major from Computer Science to Religious Studies, marking the beginning of his ministerial journey.

In September 1992, Bishop Snider joined the Genesis Church of God in Christ, Columbia, SC, under Elder (now Bishop) Keith A. Kershaw. On December 4, 1992, during a service conducted by the late Bishop William L. Bonner of Refuge Temple Church of Columbia, Bishop Bonner was led by the Holy Spirit to anoint and impart his mantle and anointing upon Bishop Snider, affirming his divine assignment. He was licensed to preach on April 25, 1993, by Elder Kershaw and received mentorship through the ministries of Bishop Kershaw, Bishop Moore, and Apostle Sammy C. Smith. Over the years, he has been spiritually influenced by notable leaders, including the late Archbishop J. Delano Ellis II and the late Prophet Dr. Ronnie E. Tomblin.

His academic journey includes a B.A. in Humanities (1997), M.A. in Pastoral Counseling (2000), and Ph.D. in Pastoral Counseling (2002), with a dissertation entitled “The Power of Forgiveness,” exploring psychosomatic and pneuma-somatic healing from a theological and therapeutic perspective which evolved into his first published book.

He has been ordained and affirmed through several ministries:

  • Prophet – The Elijah School of the Prophets (1996)

  • Pastor – Life in the Word Church International (1997) and Word of Reconciliation Ministries (2003)

  • Bishop – Consecrated April 1, 2006, by the late Bishop Ricky K. O’Neal, Greater Joy Tabernacle

  • Apostle – Affirmed September 2, 2007, by Apostle M. Christopher Wilson, Unity Faith Alliance International

His ministry has facilitated numerous seminars on Apostolic Leadership, Prophetic Understanding, and Spiritual Formation. He has also co-facilitated The Gospel of Healing: Addressing HIV Within Faith Communities at the Washington Medical Center Campus for the University of Maryland School of Social Work (2015, 2019).
