Bishop Wayne V. Snider

Apostle, Founder, & Visionary

(Please note: This bio only reflects highlights of Bishop Snider’s ministerial journey. There is another bio for the academia side.)

On Wednesday night, November 13, 1991, after rededicating his life back to God in Rutledge Chapel on the University of South Carolina Campus, Bishop Snider had a visitation from the Lord Jesus Christ concerning his call into ministry. On Sunday, August 2, 1992, after running from the call, he surrendered to the call at the altar while attending worship service at the Abundant Life Tabernacle AME Zion Church where Pastor (now Bishop) Brian D. Moore was the pastor and founder. Upon return to the University of South Carolina in August 1992, he was led to change his major from Computer Science to Religious Studies and began his pursuit of ministry.

In September 1992, Bishop Snider joined the Genesis Church of God in Christ, Columbia, South Carolina as a “watch-care” member under the leadership of Elder (now Bishop) Keith A. Kershaw, founder, and pastor.  On Friday night, December 4, 1992, Bishop Snider with permission from Elder Kershaw attended Refuge Temple Church of Columbia’s worship service where the late Bishop William L. Bonner, founder, and Pastor, was having services on Assembly Street at the Holiday Inn Coliseum - University of South Carolina. During the service, Bishop Bonner was led to call a prayer line. When Bishop Snider approached Bishop Bonner for prayer, Bishop Bonner asked for the anointing oil and stated to all in attendance that the Lord told him to impart his “mantle and anointing” into this young man for the work he was chosen to do! Bishop Bonner anointed Bishop Snider’s hands, feet, and ears plus laid his hands on his stomach, and then laid prostrate over him. Bishop Snider burned for the next 21 days…

Bishop Snider was licensed to preach by Elder Kershaw on April 25, 1993. Upon licensure, the Holy Ghost spoke to Bishop Snider to follow and watch the ministries of Elder (now Bishop) Keith A. Kershaw, Pastor (now Bishop) Brian D. Moore, and Superintendent (now Apostle) Sammy C. Smith of Grace Cathedral Church of God in Christ, Sumter, South Carolina.
